Chicken Soup for the Runner’s Soul

A wise man once said, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” Um, okaaaaay, but that’s neither here nor there…

The Running Poets Society presents its first edition of “Haikus: To the Rockies and Back” to the discerning and hopefully nearly illiterate reader. We drew our inspiration from the trials and tribulations of the aspiring athlete (and the omelets at the Horseman – mmm, proteiny!).

Cows out in the field
If they lie down, it means rain
Rainy workouts suck

The Horseman Diner
Our after practice hangout
No more lipstick glass

Rockefeller Park
Scenic beauty of nature
The hills make me barf

Distance running girls
Some say they all are crazy
But the boys are too

Run run run run run
Run run run run run run run
Run run run run run

Horses on the trail
Stop and walk, or they may spook
Great day for a ride

Coach Mike with the watch
Which hill will we run today?
Let’s go. Atta babe.

BONUS! Order in the next 5 minutes and get a DVD of the poem, “Barf.”

Running up a hill
Barfing barfing barfing barf
Why did I wake up

To Author of “Chicken Soup for the Runner’s Soul: I guess we now have to refer to you as the Bard of Barf Hill. BA in English does come in handy sometimes. – Mitch

Poetry honors go to an unnamed talented WTCer (and further props to another member who created audio for the vid) – I happily took duties simply composing the intro and creating the visual component of the vid!
